Private group charter- Montebello Islands- Week 10
This week we had a private group charter on board Blue Lightning Charters for a 7 day fishing charter to the incredible Montebello Islands. This was not their first charter with us so it was great to see some familiar faces back on board.
We were lucky enough to have some absolutely beautiful weather which made for some great fishing. The water temperature up here is now sitting around the 27 degree celsius mark and with air temps around 32 degrees the water is a very inviting prospect.
This week’s group were keen to catch coral trout, red emperor, rankin cod and of course some billfish. They were lucky enough to get their wish. The dominant species of the week was rankin cod, there were plenty around. The guys also caught some great coral trout while were on the trawl.
We were treated to some excitement when we had just started trawling and we spotted some sailfish free jumping. This is always a sight that gets Chad and the crew excited so we quickly threw in a line and ended the day with 3 sailfish, one each for Peter, Greg and Kevin.
As always we relaxed with some swimming, stand up paddle boarding and some golf driving practice off the pontoon. Life sure is tough up here at the Montebello Islands.
