A Fishing Charter to remember

This week’s charter was a bit different to our normal fishing charters. Blue Lightning was used as a mothership with our regulars from Compleat Angler Nedlands bringing their own vessels out to explore, and fish the amazing Montebello Islands.

Sensational Fishing

What a week it was! We were blessed with amazing weather and a sensational week of fishing. We also took advantage of our other vessels Reely Black and Heartstarter for some good fishing sessions out wide and around the islands.

Fantastic firsts

It’s hard to describe just how awesome it feels being a part of customer firsts. This week we weren’t disappointed with yet another week with lots of firsts. Even our Decky Sam got his first ever sailfish! It really was his day catching not only his first but also his second in a single day! However the crew were rewarded landing a total of 5 Sailfish on this vessel!

More Montebello Islands Billfish

To top off on already awesome day Junior caught his first ever Black Marlin. Meanwhile onboard Heartstarter Macca landed himself his first ever Sailfish. This day was one of those amazing fishing days with lots of Marlin, & Sailfish being raised, caught and lost. There were also plenty of Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel and everything else in between. It’s a day that none of the crew on board will forget in a hurry.

Great Fishing at the Montebello Islands

The Montebello Islands were really putting on a show for this great bunch of blokes. The guys were all smiles after they had great sessions on GT, Spanish Mackerel, as well as a fun bottom fishing session with plenty of great Montebello Islands species.

My own first!

We were keen to take advantage of the Blue Lightning fleet including Captain Chad’s baby Reely Black. We headed outwide aboard Reely Black chasing Billfish only. After a few hours of trolling we raised a single Billfish, but he decided he just wanted to tease us and swam off without playing the game. We didn’t have to wait long for the ultimate sound though, a reel peeling off with a Marlin on the end. The vibe onboard was electric and I was lucky enough to hop in the chair! After a great little battle that put a massive smile on my face I reeled in my first ever Stripe Marlin. You could say I was excited, but that would be a massive understatement, I was over the moon!!!

Later on in the afternoon Brendan thought it would fun to take a photo of him and myself praying to the Marlin gods. You wouldn’t believe it, but moments later a Marlin weighing 250+kgs swam past. It would have been the ultimate story if we hooked up, but not today.

Majestic Montebello Islands Marine Life

This week was simply breathtaking with the crew encountering some magnificent Whales, as well as a Whale Shark that literally took my breath away. The crew explored the islands and spent time snorkeling the incredible reefs that the Montebello Islands have on offer.

Each week we find it hard to keep our blogs short and sweet while also explaining just how magical the Montebello Islands are.
