Abrolhos Islands fishing 2015 season wrap
In 2015 Blue Lightning Charters headed north to the Abrolhos Islands for 6 weeks of adventure. From April until June 2015 Blue Lightning III called the beautiful Abrolhos Islands home. Utilising the port of Geraldton as a base we took off on 3-7 day fishing adventures touring the Abrolhos Islands.
The weather was, generally, pretty good. Most days incorporated some amazing diving amongst the pristine waters and coral reefs around the abrolhos islands where the crew went in a search of fresh cray fish providing amazing feeds for the evening. It doesn’t get much better than watching the amazing sunset over the Abrolhos Islands whilst sipping your favourite ice cold beer whilst feasting on some fresh cray fish… bring on 2016 .
The season brought us some seriously good shallow water fishing with some great Balchin Grouper, Coral Trout as well as the odd Dhu Fish taking our clients by surprise.
As always we had a great group of customers joining us for Abrolhos Islands charters. From those who spent their charter learning to love new fishing techniques to seasoned Abrolhos charter veterans.
This season the Abrolhos Islands sport fishing was a little quieter than previous seasons but those customers that were on board at the right time managed to get themselves involved in some awesome battles with Spanish Mackeral and Yellowfin Tuna.
While we didn’t get a chance to enjoy a spot of surfing in 2015, diving around the Batavia shipwreck and enjoying the history of this incredible area were certainly highlights of the season.
